Abstract

During last three decades Civil-Military Relations debate intensified and has received renewed interest. Unfortunately Pakistan had long history of troubled relations; military intervened directly on three occasions. While not being in government, military still manage to control and remain the most hegemonic institution of the state. The objective of this article is to understand the causes of imbalanced civil-military relations in Pakistan and reasons of Imran khan differences with army. This article discusses civil-military relations, army’s direct and indirect involvement in politics, political anomalies and its implication on Pakistan. The key variables and military’s political behaviour are explained through various empirical examples from Pakistani historical and contemporary politics. Researchers have used qualitative content analysis to explain various phenomena’s and realities of civil–military relations in Pakistan. This article has tried to describe civil-military relations in Pakistan, reasons and role of army in Khan’s downfall and provides a theoretical solution.
