Multiple Capitals as Predictors of Positive Mental Health in Faith Groups

Abstract

The current study examined the effect of multiple capitals including psychological, social and religiosity capital on positive metal health of faith groups. Moreover, the differences on study variables were investigated in faith groups. Purposive sample of Muslim, Christian, Hindu and Sikh adults (N = 300) were approached to collect information through Personal Social Capital Scale, Multidimensional Capitals Questionnaire and Positive Mental Health Scale. Multiple Regression analysis revealed positive effect of multiple capitals on positive mental health of faith groups. Hierarchical Regression analysis identified psychological capital as the most prominent positive predictor of positive mental health. Finally, while investigating the mean differences in faith groups on multiple capitals and positive mental health, mix findings were found. However, Christian exhibited better social-religiosity capital and positive mental health rather than Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs.
