Scope
PLHR concentrates on scholarship in the humanities and language-related fields. Its core areas include:
- Language and linguistics, including sociolinguistics, applied linguistics, discourse, pragmatics, language policy and multilingualism.
- Literature in English, Urdu and other languages, including literary criticism, theory, comparative literature, world literature and textual studies.
- Translation studies, interpreting, adaptation and cross-cultural communication.
- Humanities research addressing culture, history, identity, heritage, philosophy, religion and intellectual traditions where the study is appropriate to the journal's remit.
- Digital humanities, media, cultural studies and emerging technologies when they contribute substantially to humanistic inquiry.
- Interdisciplinary research connecting language and humanities with education, politics, society, psychology, communication, gender, development or other relevant areas.
PLHR does not require a manuscript to fit a single disciplinary category. The decisive consideration is whether the study makes a credible scholarly contribution to language, literature, arts or humanities research.
Mission
PLHR seeks to strengthen the circulation of serious humanistic scholarship by providing a dependable venue for original research, critical reflection and informed academic debate. The journal aims to connect researchers across regions and traditions, encourage dialogue between established and emerging approaches, and make useful scholarship freely accessible to the wider academic community.
The journal values intellectual independence, methodological honesty, respectful disagreement, careful interpretation of evidence and responsible engagement with prior scholarship.
